Part Deux: South of the Border.
We piled into the Cube and Ryan’s Mom’s Hybrid and headed for the border. Destination: Boston, Mass. The plan was for Ryan, Cora and Brenna to run 5000m, and Dan was going to run a 1500. Didier was faithful driver of the Cube. Ryan, Dan and Deeds crashed at Dan’s parents’ place, while the girls and I, courtesy of the venerable François Pap and Club Fleur-de-Lys, stayed at the luxurious Holiday Inn Express in Waltham. The HIE is where all the cool kids stay. Stephane Colle, Sebastien Monette, Rachel Cliff, Louis Carry…they were all there!
Big races all around.
First race of the night for our group was the unseeded 5k.
Ryan DNFed again in the first section of the 5k, but Monette ran a PB, and Ben Raymond ran well.
Max Desautels of Fleur-de-Lys ran his first sub-2:00 800m. Congrats Max!
“Steven Cool” PBed large in the 5k seeded section. His future Idaho teammate, Barry Britt, and another Canadian Andrew Nixon from Guelph are also in there.
Coralina and Brenna were in tough with a very fast women’s section. Their first km was a little quick, as they had to choose between running alone or being dragged to a 3:30 first click. They held on strong and Cora managed a PB.
Final race of the night for our little group was Dan Kramer, in front of family and friends (you’ll meet them later), powering to a new PB of 3:52.13. Unfortunately Flotrack did not catch Didier’s fist pump on camera.
